Just picked up a 1982 ATC70 for my daughter, started when I bought it tonight, now it wont start! Was looking at the wiring, looks pretty simple it has no headlight. At the the pull start cover there are 2 wires coming out, 1 is no longer hooked up, please tell me where those 2 wires go!! Need to get this running, its pissing me off! UPDATE I fixed the problem! Replaced the spark plug and spark plug boot, rewired the cut off switch, runs like a champ now!!
So my idea is to do a cheap restoration, more of preserve the condition of the bike as it sits now! Spent a couple hours today polishing out the paint, color sanded it actually, sanded of the rust on the motor, will repaint silver. I will replace the seat cover and plastics, but will try to keep as much as possible original! Like I said this was only an hour or two of cleaning up, still have a lot to do! But what do you guys think so far?

The black wire plugs into the coil . If it still wont start I would replace the spark plug and the points . Also their is a acc headlight plug thats not hooked to anything , that might be the wire you talking about .

Make sure you shorten up those fuel lines , you dont want them lower than the bottom of the carb or it will have fuel flow issues !!!!

Thanks for reminding me, bought new fuel line yesterday, and just put it on to see if I could get the thing started! Will shorten them up tonight.

the biggest problem with 70s is how to stop buying them.
