What kinds of boots do you guys wear? I want to get a pair, but for how much I'll have to shell out, I want to know what I'm getting! Thanks...

My current favorite pair is alpinestars , tec 4 . Ive had the 6 but found them uncomfotable. Also had a pair of fox good boot but couldnt get used to them. The stars broke in fairly easy. They are on there 4th and likely last year. Got an old school pair to try next!

Alpinestars all the way. They take a beating....hold up well and break in fairly easy. If you're buying new....they can be a bit spendy.

alpinestars or axo. the cheaper ones dont have replaceable parts like straps when they wear out. i have tech 6 or 8's i cant remeber anymore. my old axos were rc5's very comfortable boots.

you can pick used top of the line ones up around 75-125 if you watch.

I've always been a Gaerne Guy. Just bought my second pair. My first pair lasted me from 2003 until this summer. they are EXPENSIVE, but I found mine for a song and a dance - used, but you couldn;t tell - the guy bought them, wore them once, and realized they were the wrong size.

alpinestars, if you buy used check all the straps are intact and the metal plate on the toe area is fitted correctly as the staples that old them on rust out or break.

I have found the price=quality. A good boot that will last and be comfertable will run in the $300 and up range. Tech6's were just under the 3hundo range but are no longer made. I'm not saying a cheaper boot might not work for you...the level of abuse you dishout is the key. Trailguy-basic boot under $300 will work just fine. Raceguy- every weekend you hammer jumps and bounce off trees...the quality plays into the abuse. Tec8's are supper supportive and the booty makes for some real comfert. The Tech7's are much like the 10's but a step down in quality but not by much. I however like a little tread for mud and a replacement arch area because I tear up that area from the pegs.

Make a trip to Bob Tracey World of Cycles (on the Ohio River just across the Sewickley bridge). I have bought both pairs of my riding boots there. The first pair lasted me from 2008 until last summer. It is nice to be able to try them on before you buy. Believe it or not, they are only $100.

I checked on ebay, and the Gaernes are sweet, but way out of my price range... looking at the alpinestars tech3... I'll be dualsporting and Snakefesting these, so I want some comfort, but don't wanna break the bank. I just bought a new helmet, which cut into my boot fund... can't wait to try this baby out http://www.ebay.com/itm/400290235077?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

iv got a pair of the tec 3's there great boots, broke in verry easy, they also have a hard ruberized toe instead of your standard steel plate in the front..had mine for a couple months, another boot that you might like if you ride atv/atc would be the thor 50/50 boot. Very comfortable and you have full function of your ankle unlike most boots.

Another vote for AlpineStars. I run Tech 10's, and are on their 3rd year, still like new. Very comfortable

I think allot of guys that won't wear them don't know how to use them.

Your shifter may have to go up a notch.

And I shift by rolling my ankle/foot outwards. I never lift up, just roll it. Downshifts, I just nail it/jam it down.

I'll add that I got 10 yrs out of GAERNE sp?? 279$ Boots but they always had a crease on both sides of each ankle that would never break in and it would hurt on long rides.

I just bought FOX comps #5, I'll report back when I give them the abuse

lol... I thought I was the only one. I've tried to do it the "right" way, but I wind up rolling that ankle out every time....
