Well I figured while I was on the hunt for the gear shift plate I would see what kind of shape the top end is in. Glad I did because its not to good. A lot of wear on the piston skirt and the cylinder wall is pretty scuffed up. Not horrible but probably needs a bore. My biggest concern is the connecting rod. At the crank it is the common tannish color like the crank. However just above the it is blue from heat and goes all the way up to the wrist pin. It also has some play in it. My question is, is this normal. Do I need to replace the connecting rod? Also depending on the bore what are my piston options. I was thinking a 10.25 piston. If I up the compression what else shhould I upgrade. Also how much does an aftermarket cam cost.

The bluing on the rod was prob caused from low oil and getting real hot . Mic it out and see if its still within specs .

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I don't have the tools or know how to do that. Looks like I'm pulling her apart a lot farther than I wanted to. Gonna take the rod with the jug to the local honda shop and see what they say.

Put the wrist pin in the rod and see if it has any play . If it still feels tight run it !!!!

Ok. That sounds easy enough. Beats splitting the cases.

Well I tried it and I felt very little play but the wrist pin looked to be worn. Is this normal or should I be worried.

check your cam and rockers too, if you were getting the rod that hot

I just did a 3-4 month search for replacement cam and rockers, it ain't easy finding these! I ended up finally finding a TRX200SX that had low hours on it.
