I'm in the process of installing a swingarm on my new-to-me and first ever ATC '84 BigRed. I'd like to also install longer forks from something like a 200X but the fork stem and bearings are too different. I'm just starting the process of research now and most of the mechanics on these 80's Honda three wheelers are quite foreign to me.

I'm wondering if the 200X's steering stem can be removed from the lower triple clamp? If so, I can have a stem made that matches the ATC200ES frame and 200X forks, or turn the 200X stem down to accept the ATC200ES bearings. Looking at parts diagrams it seems the two stems have a different type of preload adjustment, where the 200X stem has two sets of threads and the ATC200ES has one set of threads. Is there something else about this idea that would keep it from being successful? This would be a good way to use CRF450R forks on an XR600R, that's where the idea came from.

Any posts or replies would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!
