I have a tri z that last fall started white smoking bad it hit all at once not gradually worse
I drained gear oil and was alittle under a quart so no loss and was dark brown
Now if it's the head gasket went bad what would cause it to go. Cause I don't want
To put on if there is a existing prob that needs to b fixed. Piston rings and cylinder
Jug and head look fine no apparent cracks or damage. I took it apart already but it would still run before that
But would thick smoke immediately and giving alittle throttle would bog it
And if anyone knows off hand the torque setting for jug and head install. The PDF I have
Doesn't go into detail
Any help or guidance would b appreciated
Tnx
25 ft lb on the base nuts 18ft lbs for cylinder head, have your head and cyl deck checked for true, its possible you over heated it and blew the gasket, a snaped mag key and a good backfire will do it too sometimes.

Hey whats a gasket cost? Did ya drain the the rad inspect your waterpump gasket, upon the smoke? If you ran-it smoking(which by reading your post I'm guessing, yes) your top end is mostly likely toast. Tare it down and replace the rubber waterpump gasket every top end just like the owners manual suggests. If the gasket is good and the propeller has NO wear on the shaft...pin it the impeller itself before install. You can search for that post it's around here somewhere. GoodLuck

Within seconds I turned off then at home I cleaned plug and started to c if smoked same and it did so prob only 10 sec top. And I put a water pump seal last summer. If that was bad wouldn't coolant mix with clutch oil?

Take the top off the motor or check compression with a gage that cost more than a gasket. See if it holds the PSI. You may have cought it in time only one way to see if the cylinder and rings look good. Dark oil indicates heat so it's posible the pump prop snapped.

sounds like head gasket check your surfaces.. and torque your jug nuts 32 and your cylinder nuts to 20-22
pull the pump cover see if it spinning,, this could have happened. any coolant movement? loss? what the smoke smell like ,,oil, sweet coolant,2 stroke?
just for giggles torque it to 22 and see if it stops.

There was coolant in but it did go down. Smoke thick white. Fluids r all drained
I pulled the cover off over the impeller and I can spin with hand and I pushed kickstarter
Down with hand and impeller spun but not continuous as I was just using hand
And can anyone recommend a gd shop book that goes into detail
Cause PDF I have isn't great and I don't want to blindly buy manual thats the same
Thanks for responses so far. I really appreciate the help. This is first 2 stroke I have owned and I really miss riding
Compared to my xr

Case closed. Pulled off coolant cover propeller spins with crank. Except if push in alittle on propeller
Took clutch case off to find the nut to keep gear on that propells the plastic propeller one on the bottom of case gear was tilted and pulled the oil seal behind it half way out. Plastic propeller gear lost a little chunck out of a tooth or two
Tnx for earlier replies
