Hi guys i have just bought my first trike a 250S 86, my question is has anyone sucessfully put a
battery and charging circuit on one of theses trikes? I have done it on my banshee but i notice the trike
only has 1 yellow wire from the stator were my banshee has 2. Any help on this matter would be
greatly appreciated regards Dave.

^^I'm guessing so he can run lights with the motor not running...I'd use a flashlight, lighter and more versitle. Putting an electric start would be impractial and very costly.

I'm guessing Dave you are thinking on making it road (street) legal, I'm having the same issue myself, wondering if that tiny stator will charge even a small bike battery, and i'm thinking the output from the lighting stator is 12VAC, so a rectifier may be needed to charge the battery with DC current, or indeed to run LED lights (I was planning on these to keep the current draw low, only real bulbs would be in the headlamps)

Dunno if anyone can clarify my thoughts on this.

I've done a lot of research on how to make a tri z road legal here in the uk, there was one road registered for sale. As far as the lighting goes you don't per se need a battery but you will need a horn, indicators (turn signals) front and rear and a stop and tail lamp at the back (2 if its over 1.3M wide, same deal with the headlamps)

hope this helps

Remove the stator. Follow the yellow/red wire to the lighting coil. Find the other wire coming off that coil and unscrew it from the stator frame. Cut off the eyelet and solder on and heatshrink a new "yellow" wire and run it out through the harness. Run the new wire and the yellow/red wire from the stator harness straight to the two yellow wires on your regulator/rectifier. The easy thing to do is wire your lights directly to the output of the reg/rec with an inline toggle switch to turn them on and off. A small battery is also recommended.

yeah you need indicators running and horn to beep to pass mot whilst bike is not running hence battery needed.
the last post is my conclusion looks like im going to remove the flywheel and tap onto the other end of the coil
and run another yellow upto the regrec, have tried doing it off the bike frame but its just not working that way
as i hoped it would. Dave.
