I just bought an old vintage Yamaha 3 wheeler at a farm auction. I'm trying to figure out what model year it is. I'd say 1978-82 is my guess. It's supposedly a 90cc. It's yellow. The back tires are not the nobby type, but the smooth w/ribs like what were on the 3 wheelers when they first came out. I have yet to find a vintage photo that matches it. It does not have have the Tri-moto decals, so I think it is earlier than those. VIN # is 3 x 3-013231 . I'll try to find a way to attach a picture. THANKS!

The first atc Yamaha produced was in 1979 and was the YTM 125. Look at the cylinder head and see if you can find the cubic centimeters of the motor. It will be somewhere on the head or cylinder.

Unfortunately someone took the cyl head off and I don't have that part (only thing missing). Here is my attempt at attaching a pic of it.

Is that an oven rack lol? YT125- pretty fun machine for wheelies and general low speed playing. Nice find, it looks to be in good shape.

Thanks MonroeMike! I knew it must be older than the 1983 another member posted a pic of since mine has the headlight enclosed in metal and the others have a plastic fairing. I thought the "ovenrack" was a dealer accessory at first but looking at it more someone must have adapted it to fit. Now the next question.. what is it worth? I think it's in really good condtion for being 32 years old. The plastics and seat is in great shape. It is not running, but does turn over. It will need an engine rebuild for sure, but otherwise an easy clean-up restoration.
