i have an 85 225dx that sometimes runs fine and other times stalls at higher speeds. i have cleaned all jets and adjusted them back to factory specs, put a new fuel cock assembly and filters on, new fuel line and gas tank breather line (so nothing is clogged or disintegrating). after it runs for a few minutes and you shut it off, gas will leak out of the run off on the carb if you dont shut the gas off. air filter box has a small hole in it near the back which i glued back together with automotive goop glue and am uncertain wether its holding or not (not sure if this could be the problem) also i am using an NGK DR7ES sprak plug as opposed to the original NGK D7EA. when driving in first and second gear, torque is superb, however third, fourth and fifth will seem unresponsive power wise before it stalls out. if anyone could tell me what the problem may be please let me know

i dont think your running the right plug. if anything you should be running a dr7ea if you cannot locate a d7ea. The other issue sounds like your float is sticking and your air screw is out of adjustment. Screw it all the way in and back it out a whole turn and half and start from there. good luck

i've already adjusted the air pilot screw as well as replaced the float needle valve so i'm not sure how it could be sticking. Also, could i use the NGK DR7EIX instead of the DR7EA? the NGk website says it replaces the D7EA as well as the DR7ES

I don't know on the plugs, I still get D7EA w/out any problems, but the fuel float has to be sticking if it running out the overflow hose. Is it doing it all the time or only when it been warmed up? Does it run once warm with the choke on? I think you have a air issue, and its staving for air under load.

I'll have to try both plugs then. It only starts leaking once warmed up , no other time . When its warned up and I hit the choke, idle speed increases and will stay running
