just got this the other day pretty good shape except for some fire damage and rear fenders cracked, when the previous owner had it the air filter caught fire and melted the air box, tank cover, driveshaft boot , seat and part of the rear fenders, witch is too bad cause it looks like it was pretty nice before that, seat didnt even have a rip

got it running again same day, carb just needed to be cleaned, changed the oil and filter(oil was mostly gas) some fresh gas and a new plug and it runs like new tried cleaning up the plastics but they have white spots from being bent so probably going to spray them with fusion paint instead

I agree with Mack, I bet that is an interesting story. Reminds me of two-face from batman

yep, cool. is that a dr or dx ? dr had reverse ...

it would have been a dr then, the original motor had reverse
not sure if the fire started in there or if it just got to it afterward, looks to me like the carb overflowed onto the engine then lit up

worked on the "spare motor" today, found out it had a busted exhaust valve adjuster witch ate up the top of the valve stem, so swaped out the head with a fresh one and put the motor on my 200 moto-4 frame. i didnt have a new head gasket but the motor had a nice looking 3 piece metal layer gasket that i re-used hope it sealed up good (anyone have a problem re-useing those ?) should have it running in a few days just need to troubleshoot a no spark problom and et some 225 jets for the carb.

anyone know where i can order a 225 carb rebuild kit ?

anyone know where i can order a 225 carb rebuild kit ?nice trike man i have a 84 ytm 225dx myself there some great machines. you can pick up a carb rebuild kit for 86-89 timberwolf they use the same parts since they dont make em for our trikes. i pick up one myself off ebay when i rebuild my carb for like 20 bucks and its been runnin great.

thanks,

did some more testing on the spare 225 motor,
- coil is fine swaped it with a known working (didn't work)
- unpluged kill switches and key just in case (didn't work)
cdi should be fine since this machine did run before with the 200 on it, next step is swaping the cdi off my running one onto this one, then if that doesn't work clean connections and test stator/pickup coil.
this is not my first time dealing with a problem like this, my last non-suspension Yamaha moto4 200 had a weak spark and after swaping coils, cdi, stator/pickup coil, removing unnecessary wiring and sodering all connections and adding grounding straps from frame to engine the problem still existed so i hope this time it works out

you sure do have a find their a blue trimoto and it caught on fire. still asking my self how in the world unless the man's house was on fire and he decided clothes and personal belongings were worth more than a three wheeler:lol:but now you have a cool story to tell, a three wheeler to ride, and the help of the nice people here on 3ww. Welcome and good luck

well the moto-4 225 now has spark! turns out it was the cdi box, looked like new but just wasnt working good thing i have a ton of spare parts, so now its nearly ready to start it up

rode the tri moto and put in a new headlight bulb only to have it burn out after giving it some gas, think its the voltage regulator, also found a crack in the cluch cover casing that was jb welded, leaks pretty good, i already have a new side cover from another trimoto parts trike i picked up for 60$

anyhow heres some pics

this is the parts trike i got from a scrap guy, came with the cylinder and head removed crazy how the cylinder was fine with no damage yet the piston is destroyed, i found most of it in large chunks throughout the motor
