how do i know if my three wheeler was raced? i brought the engine up to a place to have it unsiezed and he was looking at the cam and its a high performance cam, you can see it was built and machined up with nickel...? and that it wasnt done recently, as its pretty worn out. then the valves have dual springs on it...? so whats the deal here?

Not uncommon to replace a worn cam with a HP cam and its cheaper than buying a new OEM cam , valve springs are supposed to have 2 springs per side .

powroll , megacycle , Web are all around 200+ for a new HP cam , a good used xr200 cam is prob your best option .

OH MY! thats expensive! ill just get a oem spec aftermarket one i think. Do you even gain much more horsepower with the hp cams?

what do you recomend i do? the camshaft isnt that bad, just kind of scored on the top, could we polish it out, and sence its a really high lobe, it would still be higher then stock so would it still be good?

I would have to see a pic , as long as its just a little rash and no metal was removed just sand and polish . Is their a name or marking of the maker on the cam ? A clover leaf stamp ?

im not sure, the camshaft is at the mechanic, ill get it within a few weeks. if it has a clover leaf stamp, whats that mean? and where would the leaf stamp be located?

Clover leaf means its an old big als , the stamp would be between the large bushing and the cam lobe .

ill make sure to check that when i get it back. What should i do, the connecting rod was bad and it slightly scored the piston on the skirts, cylinder is still good, just gunna do a hone. can i polish the piston out? i dont wanna burn any oil, and if i get a new piston, whats a good high compression piston...? as much power as possible would be nice, but i dont wanna put extra strain on the head or anything.

Well a stock piston will last the longest but for a little more pep buy a wiseco . If you have scoring on your piston its junk .

Alright, how much more expensive is a wiseco then a stock? Whats the compression ratio on a stock piston? Thanks for all your help man, appreciate it.

the 12.1 says its for race use only, does that really matter?

Race fuel needed and life expectancy is prob half or less from a oem piston . .
