Atc 250r jetting baseline

I have a 86 atc 250r with fmf gold series pipe and silencer. It has a 88 cylinder stock bore ported and polished, uni filter and boysen carbon reeds, br8es ngk iridium . It has the Stock carb with stock 145main 42pilot jets. I live in NB Canada at sea level summer temp 15-35c (59-95F). It starts first kick cold or hot without the choke, but runs sloppy. The idle knob works but seems to be delayed when turning it in and out. I was wondering if I'm better of starting with 88trx jetting 45 pilot and 158 main and go a couple up on the main. Any imput would be greatly appreciated
