Before or at 40 years old, I wanted to own a piece of property that I could shoot on and use 3 wheelers /fish/whatever. Well My wife bought it for me today, 3 months shy of 40. Keep in mind, I live in a rather populated new england state and land is at a preminum. We looked at a few pieces of just plain land. While the land was big (50-60 acres) there was no house and we would be 5-6 years away from building. We found a beautiful log cabin on 45 acres that borders some forestry preserve on a couple of sides. When we took a tour of the place the agent mentioned that there was a large vault in the basement. The old owner was a big hunter and converted 1/3 of the basement into a 'gun room.' Right there my wife knew it was serious. I then asked did he shoot on the property. He said 'sure, there is some shooting shack out on the property with electric run to it, a 100 yard range and pistol range behind it." I think my wife knew right there it was sold.

Well we closed today and I snapped a couple of pictures of the vaulted gun room. This is behind 12" of concrete and vault door. Shelving and cedar closets are not shown. It will be a great reloading and storage room

Ya, just like u guys. For me 1 full time gig and 3 part time gigs, wife 1 full time. The trails, some are as seen, I would call them a grade 1, you could practically drive your car on them. Off of main trail are more ATV like trails, others have degraded to just a deer path. The land is designated 'forestry' to save on taxes but this does mean I have to 'maintain' the land. This means cutting up deadfalls etc. Fine with me

OMG you fell into heaven. So are you ever going to stop smiling?

That gun room is amazing. I would have loved to see what the previous owner had in there.

agree, first owner who had room, built the place, he kept it for 8 years then sold it to the guy I bought it off. Guy i got it off, was a big outdoor guy, cutting trees by hand, etc (not a gun guy) so room and shooting shack/range unused over past 2 yrs. Not for long....

Enjoy cause I know if that were my place I'd be out there just about every day. All you need now is a Trap and Skeet field.

I have a line on a clay launcher, will be setting up to do some trap. It also borders a wetland swamp on one border with a ton of waterfowl. My wife stated that she wanted try duck hunting. I tried to explain that wild duck tastes nothing like the peking duck she gets at the local chinese resturant.

Will do fabio! Will have to get u and DC up to visit once we get it set. The trails are nice and I want to see what is behind me, maybe some more space to explore

Now that I have the land, some of the trails need some work. With all the toys to choose from the big red is my go to logger. I finally got sick of pull starting it and went an put a battery in today. The wife commented, what is the point? With the other stuff to choose from, why bother with the trike? She will never understand. Btw wtf has happened to batteries? 80 bucks with a core????
