Rattled him in! Passed on 2 smaller bucks last week. Glad I waited.Very happy with him. Great hunt and great memories!! 8 point.....big body. He has definitely been in the corn and bean fields..... http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/th_rainmakerindadsyard.jpg (http://s388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/?action=view&current=rainmakerindadsyard.jpg) Please post up pics if you have em. Man I love bowhunting!! Gonna weigh him later. Surely to be 175-190 lbs field dressed. http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/th_rainmakerintruck.jpg (http://s388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/?action=view&current=rainmakerintruck.jpg)

Score! Good looking deer there. Hopefully I can post something up after turkey day. Rifle season comes in then for me. Never got into the bow hunting, though I hear it is revered by those who do more than using a boom stick. Definitely nicer than most of the mountain deer I will be stalking. Congratulations!!

Beautiful buck Crazyman! Congrats!! Look at that softball-size snout!

I got a respectable crotch-horn on 11/4.... All said and done, we got 42lbs of packaged meat out of it....

Got this guy on 11/9 at 9:40am. Legally he is only a 7 point due to the broken brow tine. First time doing a European mount. I think it came out pretty good.

Yup, boiled it over an open fire and scraped it clean. Then scrubbed it in a bucket of water and dawn dish soap to get all the oils off before spraying with some peroxide to whiten it.

How did you clean the skull?

I've been told that chaining them to a tree near an ant hill is the easiest way to get a clean white skull, but don't let the porcupines near it!

Not many bugs out this time of year, not to mention the possiblility of a dog, 'yote, fox or other carrying it off. I may try the boiling method. I had heard of it before, but also heard it was time consuming. How long did it take?

Damn nice buck there Russ! Congrats.

Scoot, my boil process took about 7 hours but that was mainly because i had a hard time keeping the water boiling over an open fire. I think a turkey fryer and large pot would work the best.

Nice deer guys. Unfortunately I didn't get out this year but a couple of my co-workers got some real hogs. Seems our numbers are down this year from talking to taxidermists and such. Don't know why; we had an easy winter last year and the bounty on wolves and coyotes seem to be working?

Nice buck Rusty!! Damn Coolpool......you sure that is a deer in left picture? lol........ I have always wanted to hunt in your neck of the woods and wait out one of those 300 pound giants with a bow. Those deer are incredible in size in your area....... great pics.

I have seen quite a few brutes in the pages of "Big Buck Magazine" come from your neck of the woods. I believe the next world record is expected to come from Kansas, Illinois or Indiana. But that's anyones guess. Come on up and hunt. Our season starts August 25th for bow and the gun season goes Sep 1st to Nov 30th.

Sorry crazy, I missed your question at the end of your post. I hunt rifle only. I'm not patient enough to sit in a blind and bowhunt. I get a bad case of "wonder what's over that hill-itis" and end up walking around.
