I am going to buy an atc but I'm not sure which way to go. We want something to pull a trailer around the yard for yard work and use it to putt around the lake. Something that goes thru the snow decent and maybe pull a sled. We've got our eye on an '85 110 and an '86 200s. Both look to be in really good shape. Is one more preferable over the other? They want the same money for both but the 200s is three hours . Having never owned a 3 wheeler I am hoping you guys could throw some pro's and con's at me. We're wanting a versatile machine that can do a little of everything. Thanks in advance.

I'd go with the 200s, but if you want to pull things, a 250es or 250sx will do the trick a bit easier. Just MO.

If I had to go with one of them,, it would be the 200s
Cuz the 110 might not be powerful enough for what you want to do!!!

I would pick the 200s out of the 2 but if you can find a 250 sx or big red they go great in the snow. They both have reverse, electric start, trailer hitch, front rear racks...I use my 250 sx for ice fishing. You will be surprised at how much traction it will get in the snow with good tires..I pull all my gear, my dad and a friend all on my dog sled out to my ice shack..

i like backing my trailer into tight spots or to the load im gonna load. both the atc's you mentioned have no reverse but other than that they would work if they had hitch's. i also woulod go for the 250 honda's as an alternative.. well worth the money...and full suspension... ive had them all and kept only the 250"s... good luck and welcome ....

Out of your choices I would suggest the 200s too. Something with a hi-lo range like a Big Red would be a better choice though. My ATC200 has plenty of grunt to pull a loaded trailer but its hard on the clutch.

I would agree that the 200s would be better than the 110 for towing a trailer, although the 110 could still do it. If you are looking for other options Yamaha has 200 and 225cc four stroke 3 wheelers that will fit the bill and are usually found cheaper than the 250SX and 250ES Big Red that have been mentioned numerous times in this thread.

I agree with looking for something bigger than the 110. Aside from the smaller motor, the 110 is smaller all around. Unless you are going to have the kids driving it as well, go with at least a 200. Must say, when I see the word "trailer", I think of the "Big Red". It's an old school work horse.

I recommend a ytm "yamaha" 200e, or a ytm 225dr both have electric start and reverse, the 225 dr has full suspension, where the 200e only has front suspension, but both were specifically designed by yamaha to be work horses and for play as well.

Don't forget the shaft drive '84 Big red 200. Yes, it's a hard tail, but the blooney rear tires actually ride pretty descent at reasonable speed for what the machine is. I putt-putt around my back forty all the time on my '84 and I love that ol' girl. She's a reall sweetheart!

On top of that, it pulls remarkably well. I was hauling wood with it this fall, probably had 200-300lbs of block wood strapped to the rear rack, and another 500-600 in the wagon I was pulling. Low range, 1st gear that thing pound for pound probably works harder than most of your modern 4x4's.

But of the choices you have, I must parrot the earlier replies you have gotten. The 200s is clearly the better choice of the 2 for what you have in mind to use it for.

I couldnt see a 110 pulling itself around, not alone pulling something behind it. The frame would probably break in half on you LOL

iv ridden 250 big reds for years and all around it is great for everything you wanna do...i have a yamaha 200e now, it wont pull as well as a big red but its a lot lighter, if i get stuck i just hop off give the rack a yank and way to go haha ,i have a set of mudlites on mine and they are great but suck in the snow, cheng shin lumberjacks are absolutely great for all around.

I agree that the 250ES Big Red is the best choice. I have an '85, and it continues to amaze me at what it will pull. I hauled a trailer full of logs for a good 2 kilometers behind my 250ES the other day. I swear the load must have weighed a good 1200 pounds.

I would get the 200 over the 110, I just picked up a 1985 250es for 400 bucks but need a new gas tank i also have a little trailer to pull with it haven't gota use it yet but as for all the research i have done 250 shaft drive all the way. I also have a 1980 185
hard tail very nice bike if you ride on flat ground but would totally suggested something with suspension you wont regret it. also electric start is very nice and would take a kick start over a pull start any day if you don't get a 250 you will always with you did
at least that's what I did. know I need a 250r and a 350x to be satisfied but prob not its an addiction!!!

ive got a 225 dx i was actually out playing in the snow this morning its like half an inch of snow lol but we will call it snow anyway my friend had a newer honda trx out there that we had to constantly pull start with my bike since his battery needs to be replaced. let me tell u my 225 dx pulled it like nothing no effort my friend was impresed my other friend had tried to pull him in his suziki 450 ltr and was strugling lol as far is getting around it was chump change thats one of its specialtiea... but anyway enough of me ranting a yamaha i think would be cheap mine was 350 ive see another one in good shape on CList for 400 as we speak! and u could play in the snow/trails/ or use it for work/pulling! hondas are very nice but spendy... yamaha are very dependable as well and a little cheaper.
