85 250SX...wont go in any gear???

Just got a 85 250SX tuesday, It has probably been setting for 3 or 4 years. The guy I got it from said he knew nothing about it, and didnt know why it was parked(pretty sure I know why lol). It is complete, has fire, just wont go into any gear. Ive been looking around and Im thinking maybe the shift shaft?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Also, anybody with any parts please contact me! Thanks!!!

Pull the left case... Usually there is a pin broken above the shifter shaft... #21 on the microfiche

There are 2 threaded pins that can come loose and bend
and a bracket on the shift shaft that can crack.

Parts are cheap and avail.

Try the search key.

There were a few of us who did them last summer.
Lots of good tips.

Lay it dead level left side up.
pull side cover.
Plug internal holes in case you drop anything.

or shift linkage will get you all the info you'll need.

well took the left case off and sure enough, it was the threaded pin under the shaft. got pin and new gasket on the way...should be ridin next weekend! thanks thorpe and tri, u guys are awesome
