yup
bigger countershaft is more speed
smaller countershaft is slow but better bottom end
biggger rear is same as a smaller countershaft but at a smaller ratio chage
overall
smaller rear is same as a bigger countershaft but a smaller ratio change overall
here is a example
say stock the ratio is 10F/40R = 4:1
slower overall
9/40 = 4.44
10/41 = 4.10
to get the same on the rear as -1 on the counter its
10/44 = 4.40
faster overall
11/40 = 3.63
10/39 = 3.90
to get the same on the rear as 1+ on the counter its
10/36 = 3.60
hope this help ya some

so on my rm 250, the stock gearing is 13/49
If i got a package kit (front and rear sprocket) with a 14/52 i could us the 14/49 for top speed and 13/52 for low end??? im guessing you divided the numbers... :? but im no math expert AT ALL!!! lol
SO, the smaller the number (ie. 10/41=4.1 <--- slower) 11/36=.3055<--- faster???

13/49 is 3.76
14/52 is 3.71

14/49 is 3.5 faster
13/52 is 4.0 grunt
