Awesome machine.......................... as the price climbs, I expect the haters will come out, spouting off about how its not worth the money and they would take it through a mud pit if it was theirs, happens every time.................... Thanks for sharing!!:beer

I know right.. These things were built to tear up the race track,,not to set and be LOOKED at... They were $2300 new,,how could it possibly be worth any more than that!

Ever been to a museum?

Of course I have been to a museum, but we're not talking about priceless antiques here, we are talking about a used 250R, the crated 250R, or those other ones that popped up that are brand new never been run machines are one thing, but this is something different

Ohh wow... a 250r, so that's what they looked like new...... kinda looks like mine...lol, just..um... nicer and cleaner. ...
Looks great, but I don't see the "museum" factor.. to me, a 3wheeler originally raced by Mike Coe, Brett Driscoll, or one of the other legends, then restored... now thats a museum piece.... I mean dont get me wrong, I'm not a hater.... but a stock 250r.... wow... hard to come by??

Nice bike, at least the guy isn't claiming it is all original etc, etc. it's kind of hard not to be critical with these types of bikes though when the value starts to soar, people pay thousands of $$ for shiny fenders that are not even the same as the originals. I would pay more for an untouched bike with all the correct parts and live with the odd scratch or scuff on the fenders, it's easy to make all the rest look like new, well maybe not easy but it won't cost you 10k :wondering

Post pics of your 250r, so we can compare to the one in this auction.

Post some links of equal condition stock 250r's. It is no secret that trikes out West are generally in better shape and plentiful. This type of machine is not a daily, weekly, or monthly occurrence except maybe on EBAY, which is going to be Market value plus... If one does pop up for a reasonable price like this one...........Between the "recyclers" and "collectors" it does not last long enough to get to the bank and withdraw cash.

I hope the seller gets good money, only makes the machines we own worth MORE MONEY. Simple Supply and Demand Economics.

This and all bikes are worth what buyer is willing to pay if he wants it bad enough. From what I see this bike could be original or a restoration but either way it is worth alot of cash in my opinion. It would cost me 10 grand to build one as nice as this, doesn't even look like it has hardley a scratch on it, from what I can see it looks damn near perfect. Most 250R's you see on eBaY have atleast some rust/wear on the frame etc. Alot of people claim to have "mint" bikes but in my book "mint" is brand new ,still in the crate or never run perfect machine, like a mint coin. Just by the pictures I give it a 9.8 and a 10 being mint, this is my view. Curious to see the final bid and if I remember right the last restored 250R went for around 14 grand and I think it was a bike VMS built for a customer.

Heres my 2nd gen R.. built for the dirt drags... and the pumper is a work in progress... may be done by tf this year (I hope) & you can see it there... also my wifes sx... all 3 put togther have nowhere near the amount of $$ invested as this will go for... I feel like all this crap is price gouging... its great they're still worth money... but it sucks for the average everyday rider that just wants nice parts for a decent rider... it makes the price of all the parts go up....

How do you have "price gouging" in an auction?? And yeah, you're right, the auction bike kinda looks like yours- they both have three wheels.

Wow ez... starting with the insults?? I didnt know you were emotionally attached to the high cost of 3 wheeler parts these days..just sayin...

People will pay what they want...it's kinda nice to see people getting the money out of these that their putting into them finally! I like to ride my trikes though, and could never shell out the cash that this guy is going to get, but to each his own. I do agree with last fooler though in that it would be worth more if it had a name or history attached to it, still a nice trike though, but I'm not sure where the 3wheeler hall-of-fame is that I would put this...BTW, damn nice Fooler you have there VA...is that a custom stretched swinger? And where did you find a tank that nice?:-)

I think what he's saying (I kind of agree) is that people see a nice bike like this go for the money it does, and now they think their POS they have sitting in the backyard for the last 15 years is worth a mint, and all the used parts on it are worth that much more as well, making it a little harder for all us little people to keep ours on the road...

Nice bike. Restored for sure though. Engine has been re sprayed, among other things.
I agree, it seems as in other hobbies pure untouched original wins over restored. So I'll be a looser :( , but I like 'em shiny.

Read the ad guys.

This is a collector condition 1986 Honda ATC250R 3 wheeler in "Mint Collecting condition". This Trike will come with Original Honda handlebar hang tag, original owners manual, title, honda paperwork, brochure, and service manual that came with this trike off the show room floor. These are truly getting harder and harder to come by and will only go up in value. please see all pictures and let me know if you need me to take more. thanks and happy bidding

There is no referance to it being original/unrestored. The seller has worded it very well. Also if you care to look in his profile, you can see he has bought a lot of parts through ebay that one would use to restore an 86 250R.

IMO, the trike is lovely and its worth every cent that the buyer is willing to spend to get it. If it wasnt, someone else would have got it.

I agree and I wasn't trying to pick it apart. Gas Gas was curious as to what we seen as indicators of a restore so I pointed out the first few things that jumped out at me. I also think he has worded it as to not give the impression that it was 100% original and if someone willing to pay this much for a bike doesn't know the difference then its their fault for not doing their due diligence and have no one to blame but themselves.

I have spoke with the seller and he never mentioned that it was 100% original. A lot of speculation can be avoided if people would take a few seconds and ask a few questions. If you know your stuff, you'll be able to smell BS right away.

I love and hate seeing this stuff go for these crazy prices. I have a lot of NOS parts on my 250r and its great to know that it is worth more now then what I have in it. I don't think that has ever happened to me, but on the other hand it has made it impossible for the average guy to try and make his bike look as close to what it did when new and not feel guilty for riding it.
