I have a pull starter from an 81 ATC 200. I've worked on a ton over the years but cant figure this one out. The previous owner said he bought a new pulley off ebay and that may be the problem. When I look at the back of the pull starter, there is no D washer behind the clip. I thought that it was missing, so I ordered a new one. When the new one arrived I tried to squeeze it on but it wont fit. There is just enough room to get the clip on. I took the 3 springs out to see if that would make a difference, and I was able to squeeze the washer on but it was too tight for the pulley to move. The starter does work with just the clip holding things togther, but it spins with the pulley and will probably wear pretty quick? I'm thinking maybe the ebay puller is slightly thicker than the original? Any suggestions? Thanks
