1984 125m up shifts fine but very hard to downshift..clutch adjustment?

my 84 125m will up shift fine but is very hard to get to shift up to downshift? has anyone else had this problem...im thinking maybe the clutch needs adjusting, does anyone know how to do this? thanks alot

sounds like your shift drum stopper mounting bolt is loose could be the clutch but the drum stopper bolt is more frequent here is a link to a downloadable manual http://www.oscarmayer.net/atc/manuals/
