84 yamaha 225dx spark issue

my 225 has spark but so little its not enough to start it, i don't want to go out and buy the wrong part so any help finding the culprit would be grateful

well the stater is fine. do you know how to test the cdi, I cant find anything telling me how

Would a bad resister regulater cause it to not run

the voltage regulator is only part of the battery charging circuit, how ever a bad coil, or faulty ground, even if you trim about an eighth inch off the coil wire where it screws into the spark plug cap could help.

Did you check the gap on the spark plug?
