I just replaced the head gasket on my 1984 Honda 200s. I put the cam back in, then put the cam sprocket onto the cam shaft, and aligned the timing mark to the engine after putting on the chain, using the flywheel timing mark. Then it hit me...... There is no indexing on the cam sprocket. It can go onto the cam in 2 different positions, 1 correct and the other 180 degrees away. I do not know if I am at top dead center or not. Does anyone know how to tell?

Stick a screwdriver in the plug hole and rotate the crank until the screwdriver quits coming up. Then check your timing mark. You want to be on the right stroke top dead center.

It won't matter on the cam. The upper cam sprocket has twice the teeth and the lower drive sprocket. The crank shaft turns 2 times for every one of the cam shaft.

HELLO

Here's the service manuals use the 200m one it is the same for the cam sprocket but the print and picture are much clearer than the 200s one. there is a small box at the top of your screen to enlarge it. the box says 48% in the window. The sprocket has a very tiny o above the sprocket bolt hole.

hope this helps
