So what's the story with all these A&E shows?
I am watching an American Pickers episode where the two guys buy a couple of sideshow banners. Their office girl puts them in touch with a person who owns a oddity store in NY who happens to be a banner expert. He comes out of his shop and I think I've seen this bloke before somewhere. 6',tattoos, familiar voice except he has a pony tail and an eye patch. The Mrs says he looks like the guy off Baggage Wars. Then an add for that same show comes on and guess what? It is him with short hair and no eye patch.
Then in Storage Hunters I think its called a couple of blokes find a knuckle duster with a knife and gun built in. They take it to an expert who tells them its very, very rare and worth a fortune etc. The next night there is Cajon porn stars and a guy walks in with the exact same thing.
So are all these shows for real or a set-up?

staged and written? (reality)?

I see the storage war folks driving new cars when they complain about paying rent and yes, making good scores occasionally but also losing, like any other struggling businesses.

See what the orange county chopper real estate holdings look like?
Would you want an occ chopper from a guy who's always yelling at the people working for him?
Hurry up all the time, forgot to tighten the WHAT BOLTS?

Mythbusters have no real business to promote so their show can't really increase their sales.

I wonder what these folks make for being filmed.

The gold miners really frustrate my sensibility.
Dig a hole for a month to bedrock but don't rines out the bottom with a dredge?

Then there's all the other horrible prime time stuff I'm afraid to watch with kids in the room.
so these reality shows are the safest for family viewing, sometimes.

It's TV guys. Just because they label it "reality" doesn't make it anywhere near real.

Yes, most of them are staged for the most part.

Storage wars "participant" who is suing and claims the abandoned storage lockers were loaded to make the show interesting.

I just read that article and although the claim that Hester is suing seems perfectly feasible, it clearly says at the end of the article that A&E denies such a suit exists and Hester's camp has no comment.

Yes, I read that as well and is typical of the legal process until it goes to trial, if it goes at all. I am merely suggesting as you are that these reality shows are scripted.

Yep, they are all staged / scripted. IMO To me it's a scripted reality show. They all seem to find these so called experts, and the next day the same people are being beat up on Amish Mafia.

What I find disturbing is the number of people that will argue with you otherwise. To think there are people out there that that think "The Real World" is "real".........................................

I know a few people that think "Buck Wild" and "Jersy Shore" are 100% real. These same people think that everything stated on the news is truthfull as well. Sad, sad times for America.
