Ok so I while ago when I got the x the clutch was slipping so I replaced just the fiber clutch plates and
deglazed the steel plates and put back together with the same springs.
It still works well but when I let the clutch out it seems to grab right near the end when letting out the lever it did this when I replaced the disks but seems to be getting worse.

I have free play in the cable and its adjusted properly the basket looks fine with no major wear marks.

My question here is do you think the springs need to be replaced with stronger ones?
Maybe the cable is starched or something to do with the steel plates. ?
Any input would help me out
Thanks.

You should always replace everything as a set. Fiber plates, steel plates, and springs. Have you adjusted the cable per the service manual?

Your steel plates and springs are worn. You need to replace with a full kit instead of just the fibers. Below is an excellent kit that replaces everything.

That is the same kit I picked up, same seller too. It will not come with steel plates. Just the friction discs and springs. I was thoroughly disappointed. It is just a generic picture as well. I didn't notice it doesn't come with the steel plates until after I bought it. Here is a screen shot of the description

well that sucks. I would just go onto Ebay and pick up a set. Make sure you ask the seller what all comes with the kit before you buy.

springs are your main problem i have had good luck with hitting steels with some 150 grit sandpaper but these days i like new parts better

While I was dissapointed that it didnt come with steels, I have some extra and used those. I am quite impressed with this clutch so far.
