front fork swap

I have a 81 185s and was wondering if I buy a front fork with shocks off a 1983 185s if I also need a new tripple tree and axel or if they are the same from the different 185s's Thanks for your time.

by tripple tree i asume you mean the top piece the handlebars mount to. yes they are different. the front axle is different and the brake assembly is different. better off if you can find a whole kit but i pieced mine together from different sources. my 125's have 185/200s springer front ends and the original 125 front end is same as your 81 185. they bolt right on but you need everything from the later 185/200 front end
