Hmm that must be rare.. I just read the spec page on 3ww and no 200es came up for 85. Maybe it's because your In Australia. Like the 88 big red that you showed us I think, there are very rare around here but in other countries they are more common

Dont worry I had no idea about any 85 200es's either. It looks like it has a different tank decal.

Well it ain't that bad, looks like it just needs fenders and paint or get a new tank. Unless there is stuff wrong with the motor, but it looks good, is it yours?

Nah its not mine, I found it for sale in my area. Would these be as rare as the 88 Big Reds?

you need to read the white build date tag on the steering column this will tell you exactly when it was built. if it was built in the 10th month or earlier it is the same year as on the tag. if it is buikt 11th or 12th month it may be the next year newer than whats on the tag.

I agree with Colton, this is probably an Australian thing only. You won't find an 85 200ES in North America. And barnett regardless of what the "build date is", it's still classed as a "1985 model year", which makes it as rare as a unicorn around here!

If you found one, then they do in fact exist...how much is the guy asking for it? As you can tell by the responses, noone seems to think they exist, so what you have there is something pretty dang cool. Looks like Honda even had a different set of graphics for the 200e in 85. I've also been told that they didn't sell a 200e in 84, but I've seen one first hand. I would be all over that...and then sell it to someone in the states....

This has been discussed before on other forums, not sure if it has been here. I even saw one on ebay about a year ago that was in even better shape. Its not that they dont exist, they just never existed in the US. It was an overseas carryover into 85 and i dont think too many were built. They have 85 decals on them but for the most part nothing really different or special about them.

Rare? Yes here in the US they are extremely rare, but i suspect overseas they are probably a bit more common but just not known to be rare.

Yeh I would buy it but i just bought an 1987 250es so I dont have the money... This is the first 85 200es I have seen in Australia but I have seen 3 88 250es's so I
think they are pretty rare in Australia to.

the sticker on the tank is too long and was angled to fit....it's off a newer big red...possibly 87..hard to see it.. just saying.

Yes I agree that even if it was a left over 84 but sold by the mfg as an 85 which the tag clearly says it is then it would be rare but in reality it is simply more of a novelty instead of a highly sought after collector bike. This being said I like novelties however my point is that even though it is technically an 85 it is still most likely a left over 84. Whether it had special 1 year 85 decals only it is still most likely just an 84 with new decals and therefore has little to 0 additional value to a collector anywhere in the world so whats the big deal?

They did exist. The decals are correct. Please see the brochure in this link. This is from the offroadvintage.com website.

Look for the 1985 ATC 200ES brochure (there are two different 85 200ES brochures on this page). It is a foreign brochure, and they called it a Super Red in one of the brochures and a Big Red in the other brochure.
