Engine issues all resolved...finally time to work on other goodies!!! Im planning to build some disc brakes for the rear of my 250sx and my design (made up from some ideas i got on this forum + my own) I wondered what you folks have found to be an ideal wheel spacer length for running the same stock wheel size? stability and handling being a concern. My brake design idea will use spacer types that will allow me to remove the stock lug nut studs from the hub and use long bolts to attach to my brake disc set up. kinda killing to mods with one stone...thanks for any tips!!

I just removed a set of 2" spacers off my SX . I didn't like them. It made the trike hard to turn and since this is was my yard machine, all they did was help the tires to tear up my lawn. They did make it more stable when going across an incline I will give them that but other than that, it was far more work to steer it especially on smooth surfaces. Some guys like the spacers on the SX but not me. The SX works well as built.

i got 2 inch wheel spacers on my big red, it makes her way more stable, a bit harder to steer, but on the trails just drop down a gear and spin the tires and slide, or just let of the gas into the turns, i find her way more fun with them, just make sure to tighten up your hubs really good

alright ...cool...two dif points of view. im looking at 2" total spacer. i really want to try them for my brake set up. I can see how they would contribute to "dragging" a tire in a tight turn..so much to think about.

when turning sharp and fast in dirt, just lean forward to keep the tire down, on pavement, let off the gas, and lean forward and into the turn, and when you around the turn nail her wide open and she feels like an independent suspension in the rear

I put these 1.5" spacers on my 85sx with stock wheels... They are easy to install, well built and I like the stability they add.

If wider was better on everything, Honda simply would have made all the axles longer. Unless you plan on flat tracking your SX, stock width with stock rim offset is trail ideal.

1.5" on my big red with foreman rims and 27 inch tires and a 2 inch lift. I haven't been able to ride it yet, but it looks nice.
