Just picked this up on trade this evening. The guy said it just needed a plug when I picked it up I figured it would need more. so the details. its a pita to get started once it is started it has to be fully choked and in the gas to continue running. at wot I'm just guessing here but I doubt it will even hit 900 rpm. it runs like crap and barely has enough power to move itself. I've already gone through the carb pulled the plug checked it out it seems fine to me. The carb was spotless adjusted the carb to 1-3/4 turns and it still runs like crap acts like its starved for fuel thanks in advance.

i had one doing bad things.check the hose going to the fuel pump.pull off the hose on top of the intake manifold and plug the hose nipple.if it runs better you have a air leak in the hose or pump.if its the pump get out your wallet.good luck.

Make sure your pilot jet aka slowspeed jet is clear. It is the little one that requires the small flathead screwdriver to remove. Soak, blow air, repeat, until clear. Assuming, your pump is supplying fuel as previously mentioned, and fuel is fresh...

PS,u can substitute a lawn and garden fuel pump if your crafty...you can save some $.. OEM fuel pumps are expensive for sure.GOOD LUCK !!!

Thanks for the replys guys appreciate it. I did remove both jets they were clear of gunk, and the fuel pump seems to be working. I have yanked on the rope a few times drained the bowl and repeated had fuel everytime. I also thought it may be an air leak as well I tried pluging the vaccum port and didn't have any effect. I thought about getting some carb cleaner and spraying around the boots and hoses to see if I can find a leak that way its how I've always checked vac leaks on cars. I'm going to pick up a plug in the morning just to eliminate anything in that area thanks in advance.

Update new plug sealed the intake boot just to be safe drained and cleaned the tank just to be safe filled with new gas I'm getting great spark getting fuel and I can't get it to hit a lick even tried starting fluid and it was running not well but running yesterday any ideas or areas to check would be appreciated how does a guy go about checking timing on this are there timing marks on the stator

Edit: got it going today timing was way off. It runs great but got a new problem she won't go. Its basically just like it was when it was running like crap. in the beginning I chalked this up to running rough and not hitting enough rpm to engage the clutch. she screams now and all I get when I shift into gear is a hard jerk. if you give it gas and it just nudges a little bit, and with no one on it it will just barely crawl does this sound like a bad clutch or something else? Thanks in advance

You definitely need to look at your timing set, because the only reason the bike would jump time like that is if the timing chain were stretched or the tensioner failed. I assume you only reset the timing and didn't replace the timing chain and tensioner; which is going to slowly allow the timing to shift out of spec again which can cause the problem you are describing. There is also the possibility that the friction discs in the clutch are excessively worn which would allow you to feel the transmission engage, but all the engine will do is race and the bike won't move. Please let me know if you have any questions.
