So I inherited what I believe is a 1982 Honda ATC 250R. A guy owed me money and this is about all he had for payment. I have no idea what it's worth. It took me a bit to get it started this evening, but with some fresh gas and cleaning out the air box and some kicking, I got it running. Took it around the block, Holy trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro this thing is loud and feels powerful. What's it worth? I kinda looked around on ebay, seems like parts are kind of expensive and this year isn't highly desirable. When I was a kid I had a Honda ATC 110, this thing feels so much different then what I remember as a kid.

Monetary value is in the mind of the buyer..every area holds these machines in a different range. My area won't be the same as yours..

What is it worth to you? Are you gonna love it and ride it? If so keep it..it looks in nice shape.

In my area is might go $800-1200 depending on the mechanical condition..

And yeah it would feel different than when you were a kid. A 110 is like riding the family dog around the yard when you were 4, seemed crazy fast and exciting..but was it?

This is a like riding a bronco in comparison..

definately different from a 110. Looking like that I would value at $400 to $500 if it is running. Anything you can through a leg over and ride is worth that. I have a few memories on the ol 82 r....fastest thing around..........................in 1982. goes even faster with some pink and blue troy lee riding gear...damn I wish we took more pics when we were kids. I do understand the old owes me money and this is what I got. Picked up a bobcat tractor like that a couple of years ago. bike in the hand beats kickin his ass. enjoy the trike and remeber Karma is out there he will get his and u will get urs. words to live by

I could see you getting 5-700 for it.

I'm really leaning towards keeping it. The problem is, if I keep it, I won't be able to leave it alone. It'll probably be a winter project for me next winter. I'm gonna take a few more photos this evening, I've got a few questions about the machine.

Just so you know, the front wheel is not original to that bike. That front wheel appears to be from an 83-84 250R if I'm not mistaken. He more than likely took the entire front end (tripples, forks, bars, headlight, etc.) and put it on that bike, but it's hard to tell for certain from the pics you supplied. Most people consider that an upgrade, but I like the factory 81-82 front end on my R's better.

through some shots of it up here when you get time today. Great to hear it runs too, anything you can find wrong with it? the 82 250r's arent bad machines at all! plenty of fun to be had cruising around on those R's!

The 81-82 motors are identical to the 83-84 motors anyways, aside from the shifter shaft and different paint.

I think youre right about it being 1982. These are definitely not as sought after as the '85-'86 250R but what you have is still rare snd is the beginning of the era for the 250R. Like Doug said above the value all depens on owner and location. If you like it don't sell because you will probably never get your hands on another. I think that its worth $750-1000 no matter where your location is.

I went out and rode it a little bit this afternoon. I'm falling in love with this little machine. I'm going to keep it, but if you guys could help me identify a couple things I'm curious about. It has a goofy can attached to the frame with bailing wire with a hose that looks like it's off a dishwasher going in between the intake manifold and carburetor, should this be there? Looks like someone widened it out by putting spacers between the wheels and hubs, why? What's going on with the thing by the clutch? It's a little thing that swivels and has sort of a button on it. Thanks guys, I have a feeling I'll be on this forum a lot when I start tearing this thing apart in the off season. It came with an extra motor also (no piston) and a set of wheels/tires without the spacers. Here's a bunch of pictures of my new toy.

The hose coming from the carb to the bottle under the gas tank is called a boost bottle. Its a add on part. The silencer is dg.The push button on the clutch is for a parking brake. The hub extensions are for more stability.

You should find a manuel for it.I think you can download one from this site. The carb looks tobe from 83-84 250r its an upgrade from the stock 82.carb If you want to remove the boost bottle you can use the intake from the spare motor if its good. The angle of the boost bottle wont work the way it is.

I have a pair of '85s that I wouldn't trade for anything... But something is drawing me to want an old Air-Hammer too.

I think I'll just remove it but if I wanted to keep it on what should I change as far as the angle is concerned to make it function properly?
