I don't know if the 200es is the same basic setup as a 250es, but there is a one way bearing that commonly goes bad on the 250es's primary clutch. Side effects are no engine brake and the kick starter slips. Of course your pull starter won't be effected by it, but maybe that is what the engine brake problem is? Seems like it shouldn't go bad since it isn't used to start the engine like in the 250es setup.

Hello

If it accelerates fine AND idles in gear without engine stalling then your problem is most likely the one way bearing. See item 14 in link below. Also check item 4 and the inside of clutch hub where the bearing rides for damage.

not a problem, just shows more than 1 person thinking alike lol. Just as an FYI, you can edit your post for small changes like that.

hello Aussie

Would you prefer another answer, sorry but not being there and not being psychic it's the only suggestion I personally have.

ps2fixer Thanks for the tip however I do not have an edit button it's a mystery to everyone. I would have edited to read I agree with ps2fuxer etc and still posted the clutch picture so he can see if something is missing.

Thanks

Could this be the only possible problem?

Is this one way bearing behind the shoes?
