Picked up an 85 110
kid i bought it from tried taking engine apart and broke the timing chain.
im going to try and just replace the chain, new top end gaskets, and rings if i can get away with that and see how it does.

I down loaded the manual but cant seem to find where it talks about tc removal and replacemenr.

Will i have to split the cases to install the timing chain?
or just remove side cover and etc behind the cover untill i can get to it?

Hello

Yes, remove cam gear cover, line up mark on cam gear with mark on head, remove cam gear, remove side cover and interfering parts, remove old chain, loosen main cam chain tensioner, set flywheel timing mark to o, hang new chain around crank gear, feed safety wire or bailing wire down chain slot from cam to crank to pull chain up with, install on gear, check timing marks on flywheel and cam gear, adjust cam chain tension.

Hello

Yes the manual is less than stellar. It has a cam chain roller you must remove for chain installation, see manual below.

SEE CAM GEAR PG 9, 10 AND CHAIN ROLLER PG 11.

Cylinder head and left case will need to come off to replace the timing chain.
