I got this thing for $140, spray painted green, and everything rigged and sloppy, but it actually did run. A new rear tire and some new Plastic, fork seals, a paint job, and correcting all the slop, (still "rigged", but rigged correctly) with drawing off of my pile of misc parts to fill in the gaps, missing cables, etc. Ive got about $200 total in this, and more time than I cared to spend, and now Ive figured it wouldnt bring enough money to cover my labor, but Im proud of it. Its a 78 XR75, and Ive dicovered its got a 76 gas tank. I finally got it running right, and I figure since TimJr has been wanting to expand his horizons to two wheels, and to learn a manual clutch, this will make a nice Christmas gift this year while Im "finacially challenged".

Very nice find there. I am sure TimJr will have a lot of fun on it. My first bike was a '86 Honda XR80R, they are fun bikes that hold up well. I spent almost 200 for mine and it didn't run, heck it came in 2 boxes (I bought it off ebay :? ). I still have an 80 engine that needs a rebuild if you still need parts, if not it goes on ebay next week.

An oldie but a goody. I think the carb and pipe routing is rather unusual.

someday I will scan in a photo of me when I was 14 on my brand new 83 XR 80! I was a little big for it, but that all I could afford back in the day. It was $695 brand new.

They have them in Dennis Kirk, but the were $35 or something, and that would have added almost 20% to the cost of the bike! we'll probably do without them for a while since they serve no function beyond cosmetic.

Here is my old xr, ot os a '86 xr80r. This was my first 2 wheeler. I bought it when I was in 8th grade, I was 6 foot 150 lbs. so it looked kind of funny when I was riding not to mention the lack of power.
