R.I.P. Jeff hanneman

Slayer guitar player jeff hanneman died today of liver faliure. He apparently contracted necrotizing fasciitis from a spider bite. This sucks man, he will be missed.

Thanks for sharing. I did not hear about his passing. He was an amazing guitarist and song-writer. He wrote most of my favorite slayer songs.

As i read it, it was liver failure, which was caused by an infection of some sort from the spider bite.

Devistated to learn of this today! Big part of my youth! Crazy about the flest eating crap!! And they just told Lombardo to take a hike recently, wont ever be the same!! Now him and Dime can shred the afterlife together!

He got bit in 2011, has missed all their shows since. Liver failure may or may not be from the spider bite. Terrible news, dude was only 49. Kerry King recently said hanneman was writing music, but they weren't sure if he could play anytime soon because of what it did to his arm.

I am glad I got to see them one last time in Oct 2011, always a killer show! From what I can understand is they are thinking he had something wrong with his liver earlier on, This made him more vulnerable to damage from the bacteria. I guess it is the same if not, a similar type of bacteria that causes strep throat. Then his liver gave out after.

I'm not saying this is fact because I wasn't there, and I am not a doctor. But it really sucks either way, one of my favorite bands is now falling apart. Especially with the recent Lombardo issues...
