Okay, Im gonna have to assume nobody has read my intro thread. Its easier that way

Anyway, I have an 86 250SX,which the front end was cut off of, and was frankensteined up inside of a Yamaha golf cart. We love it. Its crazy. My wife has claimed it for herself, and she doesnt have the strength to tilt the box up every time to turn the fuel on and off. It still has the petcock attached to the tank, which is still above above the carb, although maybe only by a few inches. I want to make it more easily accessible for her. It seems to me the easiest way is to either make it remote controlled(via cable, solenoid, whatever) or put a ball valve within reach? Correct me if Im wrong, but as long as the line(ball valve included) never gets higher than the fuel level, it should be fine, right?

I also have these two ATC185s. The 83 was supposed to run, but I noticed when I tried to start it(recoil stater), it didnt feel like it had much compression. The PO said he rebuild the carb, but wasnt sure how to adjust it. I finally got it to start by spraying carb cleaner into the carb with the throttle about half-open. It will not idle. I held the throttle at about 1/4 open, and it stayed running. It smoked like a 2-stroke. I took it for 2 laps around the yard, and it was moving pretty quickly, got it into 3rd gear, and up on 2 wheels a few times making turns. I stopped and it wasnt able to idle still. I started it up again, same way, went to put it in gear, and I guess I didnt have the RPM's up high enough. It died, and spit up some fuel out of the carb. Im not talking about a backfire, it looked like somebody tossed a bottle cap full of fuel out of the carb. Im worried the rings are shot and it doesnt have enough compression to properly pull fuel in at idle.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I stand corrected. That's pretty cool!

If your ball valve idea doesn't work. I think you could rig up a small fuel pump that runs off a vacuum line. Just a thought. Then you can place a fuel cell anywhere you want.
