when putting on a replacement flywheel on an alt50 do you just tap it on with a rubber mallet?no timeing lines right

I have no idea but until someone else comes along that knows, this is how it works.

If your crank has a groove in it then it takes a keyway which means the flywheel has a keyway groove in it also. You can buy them at any industrial hardware supply store and sometimes the Suzuki dealer.

If there are no grooves in either then your crank has NO taper and the flywheel presses on in any rotation, meaning there will be no timing mark on it which would be very strange. To install this on a straight shaft you need to grease or use heavy oil on the shaft and inside the flywheel then install it using the flywheel bolt. If the flywheel bolt is too short just buy a new longer grade 8 one and hard washer to install it with.

Tell us if shaft has keyway slot or not.
