Well, back to my usual ways, the unusual!
T340 crawler with Drott loader. I will also be adding a rear pto and 3 point when I locate them. This is the crawler version of the IH340 tractor. Nice little crawler, big enough to do some work but small enough that I can still haul it. Tho I think I need a bigger tranny cooler.

You could have a lot of fun with that toy. And get some work done in the process too.

Love that bucket style.

3 pt and pto sounds like a usefull add on.
I remember some sort of 'override' clutch on a pto which I never bothered to get.

Maybe not so critical on a crawler but ...well let me describe the issue.
Say, running the brushhog, you push in the clutch to stop and the inertia
of the hog blades and flywheel would keep pushing the tractor forward.

The exact name just escapes me.

Sure looks like fun.

Your as bad as me! I just love big old iron, I get so excited!! It's always easy to convince ourselves that we "need" it

Where did you find it? I just moved 80 yards, that would have been nice to use!

You need to lay those talented hands down and hit up my track this summer or fall; I will not tell the wife :D

I just can't let you get hurt!

Nice crawler, I have some old toys also. I have an 1948 HD5 dozer, an old crawler with a trencher, and a 1959 TL20. I use the payloader alot, the dozer not so much. The old iron is fun to use.

I always loved the look of the crawler loader. The drott is just plain cool looking, I agree. The plan was to get a skidsteer, I just couldn't get excited about a skidsteer. This was way cheaper, I agree it will be slower and will require tinkering but for me, a much more fun choice.
Dc, would love to bring it up, like u need the help tho with that big beast of yours! The ford had all the power to handle it but the tranny ran at 250deg, to warm. I have to get a bigger cooler.

What does it weigh? What diesel? I think my B/L is 17K lbs. I'd just like to get ya down here for a rip on the track. Lots of changes............

Cool Machine!

I think around 10k. I want to put my own track in but am concerned about how much dirt I will need. I am not a jumper and prefer the banked turns. Rops is from a forklift. As there is no seatbelt the rops is a bit dangerous until I add a belt. I want it to keep trees off me in the woods

Not mine but a cool look at the power of this small crawler. Dozer as a jack, idle speed

That's why I said that. My neighbor worked MANY years in the woods. Then,,,skidding trees out with a 350B,he bumped the wrong one. Top broke off and snapped him in half. Broken back was his pay. No reason he lived. He passed out trying to drag himself out. My Uncle owned the dozer,it got a rops that week. I bought a brand new DC 70 in 04 and was ejected out over the hood and hot exhaust onto the tracks. I wear a belt now :) :). Atv crashes, cow kicks, freefalls out of a silo or haymows suddenly seemed VERY comfortable compared to that much solid steel! That hurt. Currently playing with a DC 85,which is going back unfortunately. Has something wrong in the hydros. Damn shame,28 inch pads, she walks on water :). Will push a house in, but won't a half blade of dirt..

No,just saying,It seems so simple and slow on a dozer. But bad things happen fast :) Especially with a loader hanging out there to add to the mayhem lol !!

u got that right, very confused

plastikosmd
06-08-2013, 03:23 PM
Well to add to the confusion,
I made a deal on another! I found a td340(diesel). The tracks are great, maybe 20% wear, I can barely feel a groove on bushings, front idlers are great, the rear sprockets are more worn than mine. Rollers about the same, some are tight others shot so can exchange good/bad ones on mine to make a full set. The motor has not run in 10 years but ran like a top when parked. It sat for 10 yrs so the surface of the pads on the ground could use some touch up. He parked it due to loosing power to left track. It may be simple but I was mainly wanted parts.

For parts?Right!First you will get it running.Next you will look into the drive problem.Which is more than likely time consuming.Rather than being exspensive. Then maybe a quick paint job.Next you will have to decide which one to keep.Or by then have found more parts machines.

I like the allis chalmers garden tractor what is it a b-10 or b-12. Also like all your equipment especially the clark fork lift I remember driving one of those when I went to work with my dad in the summers had lots of fun on it and have lots of fun on old heavy equipment there just isn't any other felling like driving old iron.

You got it. I love the old iron too. My backhoe isn't too old 1982 but my lathe and mill are 1920's and 1960's in that order.

I love your backhoe, makes my jd look like a lawn tractor. The allis is a b12 but I upgraded it with a 16hp and added the high/low and hydraulic lift. Also a winch as it is my woods machine

Someone commented that I needed a bridge rather than a winch. I use this as the heavy trailer beats the 1984 big red too much

it is a fun place atc.

i have a parts 500 machine that came with the first 340 that I have yet to pick up. The 350jd and ih500 are a bit bigger than what I could haul, although i could try talking wife into a bigger truck....

Well the td is sitting on the driveway. First a good bath then I will start removing the loader. I will keep the hoses/rams/controls but don't need the bucket/frame etc. I don't suspect I will ever break the other. Someone may need a drott setup, we will see. Then into the garage for uc takedown and an attempt to get the motor going and explore the drive issue on the left. I will also trial fit the pto before mounting on the other. Counterweights look heavy. Not sure what I will do with them. As my plan is to put a 3point on or fast hitch when I can locate one, maybe a custom carrier for one of the 2 weights.
