Glad you did not disclose the fix and by not disclosing the fix fixed the Original Posters problem.

I remember typing the problem but i guess it didnt post along with the rest. Anyways, the problem i have is a transmission problem. the last time i rode my trike i began hearing a 'clanking' as if something was hitting on the inside of the motor. thinking that it may be the new piston, i opened my girl up and she was fine. then when i rode her again, she would no longer shift out of first and go into second(or any other gear other than into neutral).

i have no idea what the issue may be other than something coming loose on the inside or?? any help will be appreciated.

aounds like a broken tooth/broken teeth on the shift shaft. pop that clutch side cover and pull that lil bugger out and inspect it

No. Just the cover that the shift shaft enter through. Seen this happen a few times, the teeth on the spindle are broken and bent. Generally due to some previous owner 'heel shifting' or 'stomp shifting.' Easy enough to fix assuming that is the problem.

No need to pull the whole motor just remove the cover but if ya have the time it is free therapy especially after finals.

Doing this operation on my 250r is Definitely a therapy after finals. i pulled the motor today and ordered a flywheel puller that should be in soon. Either way im taking her heart completely apart, i have a new gasket set for her due to some oil leaks.

Its funny that you ask, I do not own a Yenko. I just hope to acquire a '69 Yenko Camaro. Until then, Trikes do it for me.

I now have the engine completely disassembled to put on new gaskets. i looked at the spindle and all the teeth are in good order. everything in general seems to be looking good. no gears are messed up, all bearings are good, not too many metal shavings in the oil. but still, i have not found the source to my problem. i will do a thorough clening of all the parts and reassemble the engine, hopefully the "problem" is fixed.
