I am new to the trike scene, I've been wanting one for 10-12 years and finally picked one up for $80.
It's missing quite a bit but is still mostly there.

The pull cover is missing (seems to be a trend with ATCs), but to the bottom right of it is a shaft similar to the shifter but slightly smaller, I cant find any details as to what it does or if it does anything.
When I get home I will take a close up picture of it, but hoped someone may know what it is.

Also I need to get a manual for it but all the links to them here seem to be dead. Are there any basic manuals so I can start cleaning up my trike?

Thanks in advance, hope to be a long time member and eventually able to help others like myself.

The shaft is just a shift indicator showing you what gear its in . Your missing the plastic indicator .
I have recoils if you need one but it will cost about the same as what you paid for your bike  .

Here is the shaft. Do you have any images of what the indicator should look like?
Also is there no clutch? Or at least a neutral? Regardless of what gear I shift to the chain sprocket seems to spin when turning over the engine.

Looks like a 1983 atc185s with a 200e gas tank . same tank as a 185s just taller . If you put it in gear it should have resistance at the back wheels but turning it over by hand prob isn't showing any . Only pictures I have on file but if you look close you might see the shift indicator .

Nice project bike .

I fixed the rear break bracket for the foot pedal (was smashed over) torched it, bent it and put some quicksteel metal compound, replaced as many nuts/bolts as I could find to get it rolling.

I need to get a oil lid/stick, exhaust, carburetor, gasket sets (head/jug), chain, front break hub, break cables, rear break spring, engine mounting plates, and bolts/nuts to hold everything together.
For now I can just wrap the pull rope around the cage and pull.
Engine gets really good spark and I get a pop when I add gas to the intake.
Are there any other exhausts I can use on this?

Is it possible that this is a 200e? The engine says 192cm, that is a 200 class isn't it?
Also the under coat on the front fender is orange.

Correct, that is a 200 class. There is a black sticker with silver lettering on the trike and it should say the model and the year. (Found around the steering neck on most models) Go grab the frame VIN # and post it up here and we can verify what it is.

There is an aftermarket exhaust made by DG that will fit that trike, i have one on my 200ES and i know a few other 200 guys that have one on theirs.

Looks like you have a 200E, but it could also be a 185 that someone put a 200 motor into, these things get swapped around all the time. Sometimes i see trikes with parts from three different models on it! LOL

Here is the neutral indicator and circlip for it...

That website also has a LOT of the parts you might need. Also if you need a manual, sounds like your carb needs going through as well, the manuals are on my server just click the link in my signature below!

And welcome to the world of trikes, just be warned they are addictive... LOL

Who knows what it started life out as LOL but look up the vin here .
Looking a little closer maybe a 82 185s .

If no-one answered. that shaft is for the Gear indicator, there would be a white part with a red tip that sticks on the splines and rotates on that shaft. There would be an N for neutral on the pull starter case and it would spin clockwise from there.

I think we all resemble that remark at one point or another!!! LMAO

Ok, well if the engine number is saying 185 then my bet is someone put a 200 top end on if it shows 192 on the cylinder. Pretty common for that to happen. I have only seen a couple 185S models that had a completely original motor in them, thats nothing to worry about.

Still a good deal don't worry about that! I would just work through the issues get it running good and run it! Any trike you can buy for less than $100 is a good deal.

So for parts I found a complete engine mounting set (including bolts/nuts/plates) for $20 free shipping (Good deal yes?)

Also I found a few carburetors, one for $23 and another for $24 with Filter. Is this a case of cheaper is not better? Should I spend $60-100 for a carburetor?
