A few weeks ago I posted about my shift shaft breaking.
http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/147271-Klt-110?highlight=klt+110

Since then I have been trying to order a new shift shaft (13161-1044) and new shift lever (13242-1211) but have not found a place that still offers.
Here is the list of places I tried ordering from.

MotoSport.com
DGY Motorsports
Partzilla.com
www.LawnMowerPros.com
BikeBandit.com
www.procaliber.com

All appeared to have the parts in stock, but after ordering I would recieve a notice the next day that the parts are obsolete.

THis list does not include the dozen or so places that already say the parts are obsolete.

WHat can i do? My shift shaft is snapped off, do I have to junk my trike even though it run beautifully?

Help! lol

THanks

Nick

Like I said in your last thread cut your shaft and weld new splines from another shaft. If you don't have the know how or resources send it to me and ill fix it were it won't break again.

Those sites all share the same parts program. So what shows on one, will more than likely show on the others. Send it to Shortline! He is a great guy and super intelligent too boot.

So just as a followup to this post. I sent my shift shaft down to shortline10 and he got it going for me. He cut off the briken end of my shift shaft and welded on some honda splines. He also added a half inch of extra length to get it out away from the recoil a bit. I put it all together and put on about 50 miles on the trails last weekend and everything seems to have held up. So this fix does work! One thing to note though if anyone tries this. You will need to use a spacer between the shifter and the case due to the extra length. If you happen to push in toward the case too hard while shifting this will cause the internals to pop off of a spring making you unable to shift.

I hope this helps someone and major props to shortline10!

That's pretty cool. Sounds like some advanced welding/machining/lathing skills I just don't have so it's always fascinating to me!

I have done this repair not only to the klt models but also with the air cooled 250r which are famous for a stripping spline issue .
Glad it got you up and going again :beer
