Which is faster the Yamaha 225DX or the Honda 200X? Just in general.
I know that the yamaha is auto/shaft driven and the honda is clutch..
Which is faster? and better in general?

I own both, and i would say my 200x would win my vote for a better trike. Now, my 200x is bored out, and the 225dx needs a rebuild so its a little low on power probably. The 225dx rides really nice but then again i need to rebuild all my suspension and replace bearings on my 200x so thats probably another thing that could throw it either way. The 225dx also has electric start and a handy trailer hitch. The 200x is a more sporty model though. Plus has front and rear hydraulic disc brakes. 200x has a better headlight. Plus my favorite is that the 200x has a manual clutch, and the 2nd gen is a 6 speed.

So it all comes down to opinion really, what you will be using your trike for, etc.

There are many diehard fans of one or the other.
Imo
Stock the Yamaha is faster then the 83-85 200x, but you can build the Honda up for fairly cheap and then out preform it.
The Honda parts are fairly easy to get.
The 225 parts are a lot harder to come by. Performance parts are also more rare and cost way more. Less bang per buck.
The Yamaha to me seem much more beefy. See way less frame breaks ect. Good solid trike less work. No chain so less maintenance ect.
The later 86 up 200x are faster stock, but are even more rare and spendy then the 225 by double!

I like all 3. If you want a trike to just ride everyday then the 225.
Race one out then a 200x but you will need parts.

Tto me if you want an all round trike then a 250es Honda is my favorite.
Power, electric and kick start, Loads of suspension, Low maintenance, just all around good trike.

If you just want plain speed and suspension then a Honda 86 up 250r. Yamaha and Kawasaki 250 are right there to, but honda parts and performance bits are WAY cheaper and more available.

Again just my opinion.

I gotta go with the 225dx, it is a lot more comfy and it also does have a pretty neat rear disk break with 2 pads like a car. The steering is very nice too. And it is a wheelie machine! The only thing in it a huge fan of is the semi auto, I would rather have a clutch like ghostv2 said. But it is very nice to have semi auto at times. It definently has enough power for the average person.

Also I haven't had a problem like ^^^ said but that's just me, they do sell a ton of parts on eBay, another nice thing is all parts are the same from 83-85 and most parts from the 225dr work too. You can also use parts from timberwolf and beartracker

I like the clutch on the 200 better but the way the 200's kick start at the bottom of the kick is awkward for me And On a cold day I really love the electric starter on the 225.
