Could just need servicing, fresh oil, clutch adjustment, etc. I have the service manual for it on my server, click the link in my signature below!

Hello Slayer123

I recently bought 2 1983 honda 200 e's both of them will not shift into neutral and roll smoothly.

Do they shift into neutral?

Are they hard to push when they are in neutral.

If they are hard to push while they are in neutral it is likely the brakes and/or brake drum or pedal pivot shafts are sticking. Check, clean and grease all pivots.

the one that runs also wont shift when its running.

Does it shift when it is not running?

1. Tighten shifter on shaft if it is loose.

2. Adjust clutch per video below.

3. If it still doesn’t shift install oil designed for 4 stroke wet clutch engines.

4. Remove clutch cover and inspect for obvious problems including sticky clutch cam [assembly with 3 ball bearing plate.

5. If there are no visible problems disassemble clutch with clutch plates clean and make sure plates slide freely on hub and basket.

oh i figured it out haha i was in in a higher gear than neutral the whole time because the shifting is the opposite of a dirt bike haha! thanks though!

Sounds like you got a good deal for 2 running machines. If you need any parts let us know, several members here have huge stock piles of parts, or can help direct you where it is best to buy them from.

I never got that. My 200es shifts down to go and my 250es shifts up...? Makes it so hard to get used to when I ride them both all the time. :wondering
