So I bought an 83' 200x. Wanted to build it up for my wife to ride. Also Have a 85' 350x and 85' 200s. I bought a 200cc Lifan motor off e-bay cheap and was in the process of installing it in the 200x. First off I have to say it's a pain in the trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro. Lots of money, time and work for what it is. Pretty much finished the install but can't get the clutch cable right. Any suggestions on that? Tried a stock cable and shorter one for Lifans. Both have presented problems. Then I thought to myself wait I have a 200s motor with the auto clutch which would be perfect for my wife to cruz around on and much more comfortable than the actual 200s that she's used to. She loves the look and feel of the 200x. So my question is, what would you guys do if you had the option of these 2 motors? I already have the rear brake set up re-arranged to work with either motor using a 200s brake pedal mounted onto the right foot peg mount. The lifan is brand new and would have the E-start but the kick start is a problem due to it being made for a dirt bike. The 200s motor runs strong and doesn't smoke but is old. I was told you should use the top end of the 200x motor for the auto X swap. Is this true or can the 200s motor swap right in? Thank you for any input.

I built an 84 200X with a Loncin engine in it. To me, the e-start makes the Lifan a no-brainer over an auto-x. That was an awesome trail bike. Three different newbies rode it before I sold it. The clutch is easy to learn. I never used the kick start - not possible.

I'm pretty sure I used a stock 200X replacement clutch cable but I can't be certain anymore.

Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I am almost done with the lifan swap anyways so I might as well finish it up. Just gotta tackle the wiring harness and it's done. Threw some 350x headlights on it. Made it look much better. I'll post pictures soon.

I see that you are new here, welcome to the board. You may want to take a minute to look around. There are several sections of the site and this section is dedicated to site issues and comments not build questions. Check out the member commencement section or new member discussion area for those things. Each section has a description about what it is for. Posting in the proper section will help you get more responses and does not create extra work for the mods having to move threads to the proper section. Again, welcome to the site. Enjoy.
