Really depends on your area, around here, for one that runs, yes thats a good deal. Normally 83's that run are around 1 grand, to about 1300. Depending on whats done to it that is.

So long as you understand. That bike IS a rebuild project ! Everything, and I mean everything will need to come off and be tightened up. All the bearings, every last one, there will be lots of rusted parts etc.. It adds up very quickly. But when you're done. You will know exactly what you have ! I think you're not too far from me. I would say $375 maybe $400 would be much more fair for you. Good luck !

I bought a running '84 for $800 3 years ago. Just had a sleeve put in and a new piston after taking it apart (while it was still in working order) and noticed some scoring on the cylinder. My thoughts, depending on how seriously you want to jump into restoring it a good running motor with all the chassis bolts still there is a great place to start. From experience, mine had working rear brakes but when I took the front brakes apart to rebuild I also did the rear brakes. While your making a mess might as well just take care of all the related items. Like atc007 said above, so long as you understand what you are getting into, it's going to be a great time working on it and when it's all said and done you will know exactly what has been gone through and you will notice any problem areas to keep an eye on during the rebuild.
Good Luck.

83-84 models are 2nd gen and 400 for a running one isnt bad even though it needs work.

looks like a 200x front fender, not that it matters. Seems like a good price!

172916 Thanks for the info on fender... I was looking at Maier plastics i assume they are the way to go? It was for sure a rough machine... Most everything has been rigged on it and i will probably spend some $ on it but i think it will be a great learning experience... The little bit i drove it before tearing it down was fun these machine have a badas* feel to um.... Can not wait to get her done... And i hate to admit it but the frame has been tampered with almost looks like someone cut off the neck or another trike and welded on here?

We have maiers on a few machines. 84 200X is all maier except John's number plate, 84 300R has maier rears and the 82 250R has a vented maier front. They don't fit as well as stock plastics or have the same crisp lines, but I will buy them again. Really not many other options unless you have a NOS set

My 1984 250r i bought had full new maier plastic. I think it fits pretty well but the lines are defiantly not as smooth as nos plastic(they feel alot more rough to the touch where they where cut out of mold). But i think maier is a great buy for everyday drivers because if i was to go buy Very expensive NOS plastic I would be afraid to Take it anywhere because i wouldn't want to get it scuffed or whatnot.
