I just found out about this a couple hours ago
http://m.ktvz.com/w/local/story/96083364/
So just so I'm clear, you sacrificed your own life and the life of MY GRANDFATHER just so that you could get to your destination in front of the 18 wheeler? Please friends, if you are asking yourself, "can I make it?" ... You cannot, or should not. I am truly heartbroken. My grandmother who passed in January, and my grandfather were the example of how to live your life. I have always looked up to that man and woman. All I can do now is try to better myself and to try to live the way they did. Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. You will not always have that opportunity. I love you Warren Ward. You will always be in my heart.

Such sad news to hear. Although I can offer my most sincere condolences, I can't imagine the sense of loss, pain, and anger that you must be currently experiencing. I have encountered many "lane jockeys" in my fifty plus years of life, and was a bit one myself in my early years. Might save you 2 or 3 minutes, but might cost you more. Such a shame, as this was so avoidable, and should have never happened. Perhaps it may be of little comfort to you, but try to seek some solace in knowing that you now have a wonderful angel looking over you forever. You demonstrate remarkable resolve, given the tradegy you are experiencing. So very sorry for your loss.

wow. just got on and the news station changed the story.
here are the facts:
grandfather was traveling SOUTH. the semi that everyone was attempting to pass was traveling NORTH. the accident happened in the NORTHBOUND lane. this means that for some reason my grandfather crossed into oncoming traffic and hit someone head on. these are FACTS from trooper Todd Burke.
the investigation is ongoing. initial speculation is that he crested a hill on the highway headed south and found a car coming at him in his lane (trying to pass the northbound semi) and he swerved to avoid.
regardless of what truly happened, my grandfather and another man are no longer living. the pain and helplessness that my family and i are feeling is indescribable. i wish this on no other human being. thank you all for your well wishes. it is just sad that the news story i selected to share has changed with incorrect information. as if we all needed another slap in the face

The facts of the accident do little to diminish the pain of your loss, regardless of whom was at fault. Don't know what else to say...

You will never stop grieving over the loss of loved ones. It is most difficult when you first hear the news. It almost feels as if it is a bad dream and it never happened but it did. I lost my mom 3 years ago to cancer it happened in August. I still remember how I felt when I found her dead. Stay close to family or friends that will give you a shoulder to cry on.Now is a good time to focus on yourself and how you can move forward one day at a time. Maybe one hour at a time. You can always say the serenity prayer for now. You will be ok. Ride on brother and hang on tight.
