fast as in off the line or flat out wide open,,,, I think the 86-87 250r takes it flat out but the 350x should be rite there with it at top speed

Couple people can't read..

If you are talking Hondas only, 250R. It is their largest cc production model atc

alright whats up with the 250X i guess thats just a 4 stroke vs 2 stroke. Check this out does this seem resonable for these two bikes. THANKS ALL!!

Yea 2 or 4 stroke don't matter to me which ever was fastest off showroom. It seems as thou the popular awnser is the 250r. I understand the 350 has more torque but can it be modified to go around a 250r on top end. Remember just straight line wide open racing

86 250r would be the winner.

The 250r's have more torque than the 350x's when you hit the powerband. 350x's dont accelerate like the 250r's do. The 350x has maybe a few more mph on its topend compared to the 250r.

350x for sure. Ive had R,s and X,s. Part had to do with the stock rear tires on the X. They would grow taller and taller with speed and it was like gearing up while moving. Ive done a lot of street riding at speed on both trikes. The X takes this one.

I know I have seen this info on here before. Honda used to put top speeds on the spec sheets for all of their trikes. The 250r was always the fastest for any production year it was out. I believe witha top speed in the high 80's to the,low 90's.
the 350x I don't believe ever got above the mid 80 mph range. I might be off slightly but having ridden both this has got to be close. Fastest I ever got on GPS on my 350x is 83. My buddy's 250r can definitely go even faster.

Hey cornhole lio why did you disslike my post? We both agreed the X had a more top speed. The question was the fastest not the quickest. I dont get it...

The 250r never hit low 90's stock.. lol. Isn't the 350x about 60 stock, and the 250r is higher 60's, maybe low 70s

From what I've read the 86 250r would run between 85-95mph stock. So my vote is the 250r

I own both years 350x they top out at almost 65 mph and I own a 85 ATC 250r, it tops out at 73mph and accelerates much faster. Now stop with the B S you non owners! (I am talking stock gearing & tires)

I like all the newbies bench racing. Lol. 85 to 95 mph. Hahaha. What did you do, drop it off of a cliff? My yz80 will hit 75 mph too, I've done it and I'm 250 lbs. it was in the back of my truck.

I own two X's and an 86 250r. With the stock 22" tires on the 350x it would be 107km/h. Which is 66.4 mph.
My 250r gets to about 102 km/h which is 63 mph with stock 20" tires.

Both were taken with the same gps, the same day, the same flat paved road.
Both have OEM ohtsu tires. Both have stock sprockets.

I'm sure there are some variables with accuracy ( ie motor condition, mods, tire pressure etc ) but that is what I came up with...

Whats with all the internet trikers saying they go 90 mph LOL

I am also 165 lbs...

Well, finally someone with some decent data! I would've guessed the 250r though. OP was asking fastest ever, but that is kind of an open ended question. Fastest in the 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, or down the block?

That R looks like a good deal. Needs closer inspection.
The Big Red is too expensive to me but I'm not a work trike guy so my opinion has low value.

I agree with you, I'd be all over that 250R! The Red is pretty steep IMO. I would think much less than $2200.

The fastest Honda ATC was the 200X. I read a local craigslist add that stated that... if it is posted on the internet, it is gospel. :D:lol::lol:

I don't get why everybody is saying specifically the 86 R is fastest???

Engine wise, there is no difference between the '85 and '86 engine other than the carb. And at that, the carbs are both 34mm, just the '85 has a roundslide and the '86 got the flat slide. And that doesn't necessarily make it "faster". More or less smooths out the power curve.

Both are the short rod engine, transmission gearing is identical, and so is sprocket gearing.

The CDI's are different though. It's possible the ignition timing curve was changed from '85 to '86. That is just a suggestion and by no means am I implying that to be gospel...

i rode both this weekend. the r was heavly ported. x was stock. the 350x just has gobs of power and hooks up awesome. bc it makes all the power down low. where the r i road just left me breathless and just hanging on for dear life. it made all its power way up top. i've never road a stock r. come to think of it i've never seen a stock r. i think it would depend on the length of the race big time. they make power so diffrently. and the stock length swingers make them so hard to keep down. i weight almost 200 with gear on and i was leaned over the forks on both nuts to the gas cap just trying to keep it less then a foot off the ground. the r had lawn mower tires on and a -1 rear swinger (rider needs his head checked).

triple dog, i saw that same ad and laughed. stupid people. also my 83 i got off craigslist was listed as a 84 and 'scary fast'. well as soon as i got it home it needed alot of cleaning up and the second ride on it was taken by a 90 lb girl that managed it fine even at full throttle. i hope some day to build a scary fast trike but... i dont think it'll be a 200x. i already have a first and second gen.

i've always just wanted to take my 250(x? not sure it's been years) frame and put it a CR500 or KX500 2 stroke engine in these ATC's just for the hell of it, if only, a man can dream..
