Hello, My name is Allen. I own and operate the Website & Facebook group West Texas ATV (https://www.westtexasatv.com). I was going to respond to a link that i back tracked (http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/138921-Kermit-TX-SandHills-Sand-Dunes) on this forum site, but i cant post in that section.
I only have been going to the Kermit Sand Dunes for about 6 months. The first few times i went out there it was really nothing special. A small pad for parking, pavilions with benches and a couple porta potties. Then a bunch of us on the FaceBook (http://www.facebook.com/groups/westtexasatv) group decided to have a group ride there. I would say about 250-300 showed up that day. I talked with the owner, he seen how much of an impact the Facebook group on getting everyone together to ride. We got together and i just started making suggestions. Placement of the drag strip, slow areas for the kids, more porta potties etc... Now it has gotten large there. We usually have a group ride every month. With drag races that pay out cash for 1-2 place and 1-3 place get trophies for every class. At our last group ride we had a poker run! Live band or DJ Vendors selling food and drinks. The last 2 group rides had about an average of 675 people attend.
