View Full Version : The Tecate and I took a spill...

Well the head lines don't do it justice... side hill ride + narrow logging road + steep drop off = disaster for the Tecate and me this weekend... Bounced 3 times before slamming in to a big tree about 10 ft up.i flew about 20 ft down the hill the bike tumbled about another 120+ ft.. I landed in a giant patch of poison oak, narrowly missing a log as the bike tumbled over the top of me, barely missing me.. Rear fender is toast, front fender is cracked, aftermarket grill smashed, rear caliper squished and the mount bracket is bent over, swing arm has new cracks in it and reopened old ones. Not sure what else yet..

Glad you and the trike made it back home anyhow!

I think I'll be selling my new old Yamaha YTM225DX shaft special. It's a lot of fun but it's also kinda squirrelly... And the '87 Suzuki LT230E Quad I got with it is just more fun for me.

Sorry to hear that...Hope your not too banged up. I guess you will have quite a bit of work ahead of you on the Tecate.

im ok,,, just a few scratches and probably a sever case of poison oak,,, it takes a couple days to really set in.... tomorrow should be the tell tail day... the bike will sit for a while before I do anything to it again. my pride is hurt worse then I am or the bike is...

Yes, glad to hear no major injurys to yourself Mike. As far as the rest of the T-3, looks like it held up well from one heck of a tumble.

Sorry to hear bout you and the tecate, do you have any pics before the tecate got hurt? But also like they said, its nothing you can't fix!

Mike. do I know you from some where. I am amazed im not seriously hurt.... left elbow is sore and slightly swollen, misc bruises, minor scratches and my right pinky hurts like hell

Curiously enough, on rides/events I find it much easier to remember board names for some reason.

Wow, you twisted that tecate up like a taco! it definitely could have been worse tho for you especially, and remember you only took out the easy to find parts, theres a stock swingarm going for 40 bucks buy it now on ebay! :beer

Shoot, the Tecate groups online have been so good to me, I'd give you the 84 swingarm I have in my parts bin for the cost of shipping. Not sure if they're the same as an 85 other than paint and I have not looked to closely at it.
