im planning on picking up an 86 350x tomorow. the guy says it runs and drives amazing and it has a ton of compression. he said it usually starts 1st or 2nd kick, unless its warm and youve been
riding it then it takes some more kicks.. is that normal that these machines are harder to start when youve been riding them and they are hot?

My 86 350X is like that also..very easy to start cold.

Hard to start when warm, particularly if the engine temp is high from slow speed trail riding..higher compression from a hot engine only aggravates the condition.

Proper dialing in the carb should solve most of it, I just haven't done this.

Mine was the same way. Alls I had to do when it was hot was hold the throttle wide open and when I kicked it, it fired rite up.

My buddies old 350X was a BEAR to start when hot. You pretty much had to let it sit and cool down for 20 minutes. lol
