Yep.....I'm addicted now going to get my second trike

Going to get my second '84 200ES tomorrow for 350. Guy says it runs for a few minutes and dies and won't run for the rest of the day. Said local guy told him it was the stator. Ill be doing a carb clean, oil, fuel filter and new plug off the bat. I'm excited, now me and my wife can ride together!

Awesome!!! Could also be fuel related unless it looses spark, a few minutes give or take and it could be running out of fuel in the carb. Blocked filter or petcock, etc.

If its loosing spark i would go through what you did with the other one, check stator for voltage, etc. Hopefully you won't get into another long debacle getting that one going but thats half the fun for me... LOL

Well I know learned ALOT about something I had never even seen in a fun filled 3weeks. Lol

I'll go through a few things in the next few days. Let me make my inital assessment and go from there. Here's the first of many pictures.

Doesnt look too bad, i think it should be a nice trike after a afternoon troubleshooting. I think its fuel related. It uses up the fuel in the bowl then shuts off. He said it doesnt run until the next day. By then the bowl has slowly filled up again and you can start it. Thats just my thought. Just needs a good cleaning.

Cleaning the carb will be first on the list for sure. I'm pretty excited! Was going to order tires for the first but that'll have to wait lol

I like the fact that this one has a steel tank on it!

According to your first one I have no doubt you have the ability to get it running in no time. As I've said before...I love seeing trikes (or anything else for that matter) saved from certain death. Good luck with it!

The first big red had a buddy in the barn where i got it from and im waiting for them to ask their kids if they want it or not. I kind of screwed myself by showing them the cleaned up running trike because they just saw it as trash and too much work to fix but now it has value and they may not want to give the second one away. if the kids don't want it than I'll have 3 '84's. They say its exactly like my first so if that's true than and they decide to give it to me than ill have a small herd. I may just end up selling one but who knows, it would be cool to show up at a ATV park and unload these guys!

I missed the part where you said wouldnt run again til the next day... I agree with Ghost, that sure sounds like a fuel issue.

Would be cool if you could get the third also, then you have two and a spare... LOL

I had the same problem with my es it turned out the tank was sitting on the fuel line :p . Dont rush cus your excited to get it running and make a rookie mistake . just sayin .

Here are some pics of the new Big red. It's roughly about the same shape as the other one I got.

Plastics are ok, some extra screw holes and the front is cracked. Wiring is all intact and brakes feel good. Shifter feels good too. Overall I'm happy. Was hoping it had ran lately but it in about a year. His ad was kinda misleading but I'm not mad. Had him sign a bill of sale too.
