I just purchased a non running 86 350X. The guy I bought it from said the engine had low compression and he did not have time to rebuild it. He gave me a new 12:1 weisco piston and rings along with a cylinder match bored to the piston. My question is this... Will 12:1 compression be to much to run pump gas and stay reliable? Most of my riding is with my young son and we just ride trails. I do not need a ton of power but it would be nice to have it on tap. If the 12:1 is ok what other parts can I add to complement the piston and get more reliable performance. I have seen posts about
450r exhaust and 400ex carbs. Any Ideas on mods would be appreciated. Thanks
