Hello - everyone. Just join the forum and already have a question I hope the experts here can answer. I purchased a '84 Honda Big Red 200es a couple of weeks ago. Nice condition - just the left rear fender was cracked and was fixed with a shoddy looking repair.
My question: will a left fender from a '85 200m fit on my '84 200es. I was under the impression that a '84 - '85 200m fenders are the same and will interchange.
I just purchased a clean undamaged pair of '85 200m rear fenders (not delivered here yet) and hope they are the same. Your opinions greatly appreciated - thanks in advance. BK3

You're in luck, the fenders are the same as far as I can tell. I read 4 different place the say that and all the pictures I can find on line, they look exactly like mine.

Thanks, Eric - that is what I was hoping to hear. The area of concern is the left fender by the sub transmission - is this area cut out in order for the fender to fit??? I guess I will just have to wait until the fenders arrive here and I can do a comparison between my original ES and the M fenders. If they don't work - they will be up for sale for anyone who wants them for their 200m. They are clean examples.

Eric - BTW - your 200es is awesome. Before & after pics - WOW!!! BK3

Compared to the right side, yes there is a cut out. And, thanks! Loving my Big Red!

Thanks again for the pics and the link - much appreciated. I think these 200m fenders are going to work on my '84 200es. I can't wait for them to arrive. I will post my results and pics when they arrive. I also have a set of NOS hand grips, NOS tail light lens, NOS rear rack and tool box rubber straps on the way also. Regards. BK3

Also, trying to find a set of front shock absorber rubber protectors to replace my damaged, ripped ones. I am guessing the junk yards are where I will have to look. Any suggestions??? Thanks

The fork boots? I see these quite a bit. I highly recommend disassembling the front suspension and clean it out. Be CAREFUL with the inner shock dampers though be ace those are NOT easily found.

Pics??

The fork boots can be had for cheap if you use a universal set. I bought a cheap universal set of boots from Dennis Kirk for under $20. There is brand new OEM style boots out there for the 200ES, but they are spendy as heck. If you need help finding them i can probably go back on my Dennis Kirk account and see what part number i ordered, they were a really good fit.

Here is the set i have used on a few now, including mine.

The top is a tight fit over the bolt but so is the OEM's. A little lube helps, i used some dish soap to get it slippery and then stretched it over. Tight fit is good, no water can get in!

Thank-you, gentlemen. I will look into both options that you provided.

kbOnly - trying to view your Honda ATC Manual Archive link and am having difficulties opening it up to view. Am I missing something here??? Thanks BK3

Working fine on this end so not sure. www.atcmanuals.info and click on the manuals tab. What browser are you using? I have tested the site in IE, FireFox and Chrome.

My 1985 200m rear fenders that I purchased arrived the other day and I just finished installing them on my '84 200es. No difference between the 200m and 200es rear fenders - exactly the same and installed with ease - no modifications. I have a right '84 200es rear fender if anyone needs it. Let me know. Again, this will fit both the 200m and 200es. BK3
